Stepping back to yesteryear

1 min read

The Barossa Vintage Festival offers both locals and visitors an avenue to experience all facets of life and industry in the region.

And there is no way that the innovations of the future can be celebrated without acknowledging and understanding the past, and how our ancestors once lived and provided for their families.

What better way to explore this than at one of the Barossa Vintage Festival's quintessential must-see events: 'Step Back in Time' which runs today (April 23) April 24 and April 25.

The entire complex at Bethany Lutheran Church is transported back to help tell the story of the Barossa's heritage.

With interactive displays and activities like rope making, butter churning, noodle making, honey biscuit decorating, working machinery exhibits and an array of farm animals, there is something for everyone at this family-friendly event.

"Our ancestors and Bethany were very self-sufficient, did everything themselves, so that's…a lot of what you see here as you walk through," Co-convener, Anna Schrapel said.

There are multiple days you can explore this living museum of exhibits from throughout the week of the Vintage Festival, be sure to head to the Bethany Lutheran Church and experience a day in the life of an early German settler.
