Prepare to promenade in the Parade

1 min read

The Vintage Festival Parade has been a tradition since 1949 and is a signature event at every Festival.

Many hours of work are devoted behind the scenes, as local businesses and community groups get their creativity flowing and prepare to wow the crowds.

While registrations for float entry in the parade are open from now until March 14, organisers are keen to know numbers as soon as possible, to assist them with logistics and volunteer requirements.

Known as one of the longest parades in the Southern Hemisphere, it's common for locals to bring their fold out chairs and find a spot along the footpath to sit and enjoy a picnic.

There will be prizes awarded for:

  • Bill Biscoe Memorial Award (open to all).
  • Best Constructed Float (open to all).
  • Best Display of Vintage Clothing (open to all).
  • Best Wine Industry Float.
  • Best School Float.
  • Best Town Float.
  • Best Vintage Vehicle.
  • Best Community Float.
  • People's Choice Award (open to all, voted by the public).
