Nuriootpa Town Day, scheduled for Saturday, April 22, is shaping up to be a day full of fun, with something for everyone.
Whether it is pulling up a deckchair to admire the creative and quirky parade floats in the final leg of the Vintage Festival Parade or participating in the myriad of activities on offer, Nuriootpa Town Day is certainly going to be a day with community at its core.
“While we want to activate the businesses in Nuriootpa, this is all about family,” Nuriootpa Futures Association Treasurer, Ms Paula Brown said.
“We really wanted to strip it back to celebrate Nuriootpa and celebrate family.”
With such a big day planned, the Vine Inn Barossa Community Hotel, will be serving delicious bacon and eggs rolls, accompanied with coffee - a great option before you stake out a prime position on Murray Street.
“After the Parade, there will be food vendors set up beside the design studio of the Barossa Co-op in what we’re calling an ‘Eat Street’,” Ms Brown said.
“Attendees will be able to buy some lunch, sit on the tables and chairs that will be set up along Murray Street and enjoy the festivities.”
There will also be plenty of fun activities for the younger ones, with a vintage trail, circus performers, balloon artists, face painters, a crazy hair lady, and a bugs and slugs display scheduled for the day.
What more could you ask for?
“It was really important for us to make things affordable for people,” Ms Brown said.
“So, the Nuriootpa Futures Association and the sponsors we have will be providing all of the children’s activities free of charge, which will hopefully relieve some pressure for parents.”
Other exciting activities programmed include a live performance by band, Fortified, roaming buskers, plus a live broadcast of the Parade by BBBFM stationed at Barossa Nissan.
“There will also be vintage cars (on display), wood carving demonstrations, a gardening station and a photo wall with old images from previous Parades,” Ms Brown said.
This Festival, the floats will finish and park near the Vine Inn Community Hotel, enabling people to walk around and examine them up close, prior to the announcement of the winning float.
“We just want to take it back to basics,” Ms Brown said.
