Ute crashes into new pedestrian refuge at Nuri

1 min read

The newly installed pedestrian refuge on Gawler Street, Nuriootpa has resulted in an eventful morning for one local driver.

At about 6.15 a.m. this morning, Nuriootpa police were advised of a traffic incident within the road work section of Gawler Street at Nuriootpa, immediately adjacent to Mitre 10.

A white Ford utility driven by a local man in an easterly direction collided with recently laid concrete kerbing forming part of the new central pedestrian refuges on Gawler Street.

Damage was sustained to both the kerbing and the vehicle, requiring the ute to be towed from the scene.

Nuriootpa Police Acting Senior Sergeant Mick Heuer said sufficient road work signage and speed restrictions were in place.

“Police are investigating the cause of the collision,” he reported.

“No one was injured.”
