Rob Barton, “The Antenna Bloke” of Nuriootpa, has recently had a significant increase in demand for antenna upgrades following the sudden 4G upgrade in the Barossa that happened early February.
This latest upgrade has caused interference between the towers and free to air channels, depending on the individuals equipment and location.
The upgrade to 4G in the Barossa is to improve mobile coverage and increase speed, however television reception has been affected due to a receiver overload at the base stations.
The use of a signal booster or masthead amplifier increases the chance of a receiver overload in your home, but the interference can still happen to anyone.
“Nuriootpa and Tanunda are experiencing the worst of this upgrade, with a lot of people replacing their whole television and equipment, believing it’s their actual television that’s the problem,” said Rob.
