School farewells pastoral care worker

1 min read

After 10 years as a pastoral care worker at Nuriootpa High School, Mrs Donna Fay is taking a “gap year” to embark on a new challenge.

The school farewelled Donna last Thursday, as this week she takes on a role with the Flinders University PRCC programme.

While looking forward to her new role, Donna will be missed by students and staff alike after providing a supportive role for the last 10 years together with an SSO position for the last 12 months.

“It has always been about the kids…. journeying with young people and working with families and staff… they have been family,” said Donna.

“I have always seen it as a privilege to work with the young people.”

Both principal, Mr Neil White and the school’s assistant principal, Ms Anne Barclay spoke fondly of Donna and the important part she played at the school.

Donna will be remembered for many things during her time at Nuriootpa High including bringing the community based, RAW Impact to the school.

She will continue this role on a voluntary capacity and is encouraged by the interest shown by students, particularly those who are returning to the programme this year in a mentoring role.
