Major crime detectives have confirmed that the human remains discovered by a walker at Hale Conservation Park, Williamstown on July 26 was Mr Ian Lees of Modbury North.
Mr Lees was reported as a missing person on March 4 by a family member.
He was last seen at 2.48 a.m. on March 1 walking north of Fairleigh Avenue at Modbury North.
