For many years, service clubs have been pillars of community, helping when help is needed, lending support, often behind the scenes, to make communities better, safer and happier places to live.
Service is almost always given humbly, without want of recognition or accolade.
Members say they do it because volunteering gives them a sense of purpose, and fulfils an innate desire to “give back”.
