Nuriootpa Medical Centre new facilities

1 min read

The Nuriootpa Medical centre re-development has offered both staff and patients a modern environment to visit and work in.

The practice was successful in applying for funding through the Federal Government’s Rural General Practice Infrastructure Grants programme.

The grant allowed the practice to develop the waiting room, consulting rooms and reception area. They also increased the number of consulting rooms to 10.

Nuriootpa Medical Centre’s two medical students now have access to a larger teaching room for study during their placement.

The centre has added a board room, staff room and rooms for chronic disease management, conducted by their nursing staff and doctors.

The build took two years to complete and was finished in May this year.

The partners felt with the growth of the area they would need to offer increased consulting rooms and with new doctors now working in the practice who have been able to fill all of the rooms.

The new waiting area is modern, dynamic and bright and offers the patients multiple areas to wait in before their consultation.

There is a children’s area and televisions for patients while they wait as well as plenty of information for patients to read.

It has been a challenging time for the Nuriootpa Medical Centre.

The first rebuild was 27 years ago, the first major one in 1992 and again in 2000.

This is the third major renovation the practice has undertaken, with some minor upgrades in between.

Dr Michael Hoopmann and Dr Geoffrey Arthurson have worked together for more than 30 years and have seen each of the renovations come together.

Both patients and staff are happy with the result and everyone has been really positive.
