Ms Kirsty Zeuner of Barossa Vintage Florist in Nuriootpa didn’t even know her business had been nominated for the 2019 Interflora Pursuit of Excellence Awards.
Imagine her surprise then, when she found out that she, along with colleague, Ms Sarah Hikaka, had taken out not only the SA division, but the national competition as well, rising above 750 eligible competitors.
“It was very unexpected!” said Ms Zeuner, who is still unsure exactly who was responsible for nominating her business.
Nominees are covertly judged by Interflora mystery shoppers or phone call inquiries, with winners proving to show excellence in all aspects of retail floristry, including customer service, conformity to requested designs, store merchandising and active support of their Interflora network.
This is the second time Barossa Vintage Florist has taken out the state award, having won in 2017, but it’s the business’ first time taking out the national title as well.
Ms Zeuner, who only purchased the florist shop two and a half years ago, said she is very proud of the achievement.
“I’m pretty overwhelmed!” she said.
“I can’t believe a little shop in the Barossa could win the national award.”
Ms Zeuner and Ms Hikaka were presented with the awards at a Gala dinner recently.
