He has been charged with managing the region’s biggest supermarket and has overseen the move to two locations but from next month Mr Ken Hodges will take on a new chapter after nearly 36 years with The Co-op.
Chatting to Ken you soon discover his passion and enthusiasm, not only for the supermarket but also The Co-op and the community.
Described as a big part of his life, Ken said he will miss many aspects about the position which he acknowledges as not just a job, rather his life for more than 30 years.
He’s not afraid to roll up his sleeves and help throughout the supermarket, from the check-outs through to customer enquiries on the ground and even clearing tables in the Co-op Cafe.
But the father of two says the time is right for him to finish with an organisation he started with as a teenager collecting trolleys from the carpark of the first Foodland store on the corner of Murray and Gawler Streets.
“It was a big decision and I felt the time was right for me to finish,” said Ken.
