Gourmet weekend profile: Marty Powell

1 min read

What’s your best memory?

I really enjoy the spirit of cooperation from everyone involved.

Our committee, the participants and everyone visiting for Gourmet Weekend all immerse themselves in the experience... and why wouldn’t they?

Food, beautiful landscapes, music, produce and wine. We’ve got it all!

I’m particularly proud of the launch of the 2015 programme - on stage at the Festival Theatre.

How did you determine your programme for Gourmet?  Food, wine or music?

All of the above!

They combine so well to make for a memorable day.

What attracts you... big names (labels/chefs) or hidden treasures (venues/food)?

I’m really attracted to a venue that is fun and celebrates its strengths. If it’s a hidden gem - even better!

Favourite destinations?

Greenock Village of course!

Thirty years – what has changed?

The programme has certainly developed over 30 years.

It is so diverse now; allowing us to show off our community and we’re so much easier to get to!
