Gelato that bends the rules

Beans + Cream Gelateria, Tanunda, has been savouring the success of winning six awards in the dairy section at the Royal Adelaide Show this year.

Owner and gelato maker, Mr Josh Moffatt, entered six of his flavours in total and won an award for each of the gelatos entered.

The award winners were: a gold medal for his banana salted caramel gelato, a gold medal in the vanilla category for his vanilla gelato, and four silver medals for his cookies and cream, Christmas pudding, strawberry, and local roast coffee gelato.

Josh is happy with the result, considering that this is the first time he has entered his gelato into a competition.

Beans + Cream Gelateria, previously Nice Ice, Tanunda, was bought by Josh last year, and he has been making the gelato from scratch using his own recipes.

“I feel great, it’s good to have acknowledgement to back up our product. You make it from scratch and a lot of hard work goes into it. It’s good to have a medal to back that up,” said Josh.
