Waste clothing could become a council problem

The Rotary Club of Barossa Valley is one of the few organisations still taking in surplus clothing. However, with freight to the major customer, Malaysia rapidly becoming too cost prohibitive, Rotarian Peter Thomas is concerned that if it becomes unviable for Rotary to collect surplus clothing, it could well become a major problem as he anticipates this clothing will just end up under bridges, in rivers and in council’s red waste bins, thus creating an extra cost burden to Council.
