The historic Richmond Grove Winery on Para Road, Tanunda was put on the market this week.
Offered for sale by Expressions of Interest by Colliers on behalf of Pernod Ricard Winemakers, the winery has, according to the agent, "long been a beacon of quality in the Australian wine industry and has produced some of the country’s most celebrated wines.
"Known for its multi-regional philosophy, Richmond Grove produced exceptional varietals, including the acclaimed Watervale Riesling, often hailed as one of Australia’s finest white wines."
Nick Goode, one of three agents handling the sale, said, “Richmond Grove Winery offers a wealth of possibilities with around 87 million litres of tank storage and 299 tanks, three climate-controlled warehouses totalling over 16,400 square metres and multiple residences including its historic Flemish-style chateau.”
Richmond Grove sits on 27 hectares across five titles, and is being marketed for future opportunities that "could include a mixture of industrial, residential and wine tourism pursuits, subject to necessary consents”.
The listing comes soon after The Barossa Council Assessment Panel approved an expansion to Pernod Ricard Winemaker's Rowland Flat site, in which the development application revealed plans to consolidate the company's Barossa Valley operations to a single site, with the closure of Richmond Grove slated.
