‘Fitness 3 and then there’s me’ is the name four Barossa women have chosen for their Adelaide Coastrek team, but you won’t find out who the ‘me’ is.
“The idea is that three of us are into fitness, and one not so much, but we won’t tell who,” said Lisa Portlock from Angaston.
Lisa, together with Nicole Rudd and Claire Duffield from Nuriootpa, and Jodie Dahlitz from Tanunda, plan to participate in the 30km Coastrek, which winds its way from Victor Harbor to Goolwa on September 20.
For the team, three of whom are mothers, the event is an opportunity to create awareness around the importance of mental health, particularly for women.
“I think for women it’s about soldiering on, and being that amazing mother and that great wife, and you go to work as well and you take the kids around after school and there’s so much pressure all the time,” Lisa said.
“Coastrek is fabulous because it’s about empowering women to speak up and acknowledge that things aren’t always as they seem.”
