In garages, school yards, businesses and homes the craft glue and paint brushes are out, as the community prepares for one of Barossa Vintage Festival’s biggest and best loved traditions – The Parade.
"The sheer scale of this event is hard to convey, but the numbers give just some idea of the massive effort which goes into delivering the Parade,” said Festival Chair and Parade Convenor, Carla Wiese-Smith.
"As we head into the final preparations, we have a total of 65 floats registered - that equates to a Parade that is over one kilometre in length.
"Most notably, though, we will have at least 1000 people participating on floats - not to mention 50 volunteers helping out as either traffic marshals or committee members.
"The Parade is a true community event, and we can't wait to see everyone lining Barossa Valley Way on Saturday, April 26.
"Those happy smiling faces and waving children are what makes all the effort worth it!"
All floats in the Parade will be eligible for The Bill Biscoe Memorial Award, which will be judged by a group of the late community-minded Barossan’s closest family and friends.
The floats will be judged on a range of criteria, including community spirit, preserving Barossa's history, storytelling and design.
