Head of the region’s dairy farmer co-operative, Mr Andrew Koch from Moculta will march with hundreds of other farmers today to bring awareness to the industry’s plight.
Mr Koch, Barossa, Mid North and Adelaide Hills Dairyfarmer’s Co-operative president, organised the march and meeting to put agriculture back on the political agenda.
The industry is “right on the knife’s edge” according to Mr Koch and he hopes the march and meeting will be a step towards fixing it.
“The industry is at crisis point, there are already farmers going into receivership,” Mr Koch said.
Farmers at the event will call for a national dairy summit with the federal and shadow agriculture ministers.
