Truck stop on Warren Road a success

1 min read

On Monday morning local police and the Department of Planning, Transport and Infrastructure (DPTI) conducted a truck stop on Warren Road, Mount Crawford.

The stop, known as operation Austrans, ran over six hours and is held regularly.

By 11 a.m. when The Leader visited the location, police and DPTI had already tested 21 heavy vehicles.

Out of the 21 heavy vehicles tested, seven failed - meaning 33.3 per cent of the vehicles at that stage had some sort of defect.

Chief Inspector Alby Quinn of Barossa LSA, explained that heavy vehicles are used 24/7.

Speaking of personal observation, C/I Quinn said there is nothing worse for a ‘truckie’ than a small car pulling out on them and not looking at stopping distances at traffic lights.
