Overnight between September 14 and 15 entry was gained to five businesses on Murray Street and Elizabeth Street, Tanunda by jemmying open front doors.
According to police, it appears cash was the target as varying small amounts were stolen from charity boxes and cash register floats.
An attempt was made to open a safe, which was removed from the business but found intact nearby.
Investigations are continuing, including the viewing of CCTV and analysis of forensic evidence found at the scene.
