Neil leaves Nuriootpa High

1 min read

“I’ve always talked to staff and students about challenging yourself and taking up opportunities - so I thought I’d be a good role model,” said Mr Neil White, Nuriootpa.

Mr White has spent the past four years as Principal of Nuriootpa High School.

However, on January 18 he will embark on his new role as Education Director for Lower Mid North and Mid North.

Based in Gawler, Mr White will travel to schools in towns such as Balaklava, Clare and Port Wakefield.

In this new role, he will be responsible supporting schools, working with schools for ongoing improvement, implementing review recommendations, performance development and more.

He will also ensure there is an emphasis on STEM, numeracy and literacy over his three year position.

After 10 years working as a Principal Mr White believes he has had ‘hands on’ experience in both small country and larger metropolitan schools, which is good for the practicalities of the role.

Mr White got a ‘head start’ and a taste for the position after he completed six weeks as Education Director in term four last year.

When asked what he was most excited about with his new role, Mr White laughed, “I’m a bit nervous actually!”

“But that aside, I get to work with the leadership in different schools, I’m quite looking forward to that.
