Danielle takes out instructor award

Danielle Booms-Davies, Nuriootpa is this year’s South Australian winner of the Austswim WETS Instructor of the Year award.

Each year Austswim identifies and honours individual Austswim teachers from across the country for their respective contributions to aquatic education and water safety.

Last Wednesday Charlie Germein, Austswim Manager South Australia, travelled to The Rex – Barossa Aquatics and Fitness Centre, Tanunda to surprise Danielle with the award.

Lisa Lewcock, Danielle’s mother and Health Club Co-ordinator at The Rex and Craig Wilson, Manager of The Rex were also behind the surprise.

“I’m so grateful that I was chosen and still a little shocked that I won,” laughed Danielle.

“I just love teaching so I never expected to win anything – I have the best job.”

She attended the WETS course in September last year, completing her WETS qualification and gaining registration just before Christmas, with four months being very quick to complete all the requirements according to Charlie.
