Dave’s display a winner

He put together his latest plate display the night before the convention, but Mount McKenzie’s Dave Pawson has no regrets after taking out best state display at the Number Plate Collectors Club of Australia state convention in Nuriootpa over the June long weekend.

Dave was proud to take out the honour, one of six awards presented on the weekend, particularly as the convention was being held locally.

“I have been wanting to have a convention in the Barossa for 10 years and I was rapt to have it here,” said Dave.

He’s particularly proud of his achievement and plans on keeping them all on the large board to admire.

“I love looking at them… it’s a bit of inspiration,” said Dave.

“I collect modern plates but this is my absolute passion, the old stuff.”

Dave, who has been collecting number plates for more than 30 years, estimates he owns up to 5,000 plates and only last week purchased more to add to his collection.
