Fortnightly collection a health and hygiene hazard

The proposal to collect rubbish fortnightly is a health and hygiene hazard, according to Williamstown resident, Ms Nataly Austin.

The mother of Harrison, aged one, said she understands where The Barossa Council is coming from to help people cut down on waste and acknowledges council’s efforts to give a choice in the consultation process.

“The fact is they can’t make everyone happy… everyone has different needs and wants. It would be good if there’s some education on how to utilise the bins correctly,” said Nataly.

Personally, Nat said she doesn’t fill her bin weekly so wouldn’t have a problem with it being collected fortnightly. However, she is concerned for others who do and also the health and hygiene aspect to it.
