Honouring Corporal Scott James Smith

Last Friday a formal ceremony was held at 11 a.m. at the memorial cross at Tanunda Primary School commemorating Corporal Scott Smith.

Corporal Smith was a student at TPS who was tragically killed on October 21, 2012 whilst in active service in Afghanistan.

He was born in the Barossa in 1988, before joining the Army in February 2006.

He was a member of the Special Operations Task Group and was from the Special Operations Engineer Regiment.

In keeping with the TPS commitment to honouring past students who have fallen while serving, a permanent plaque was placed alongside the other plaques.

The unvailing of the plaque followed speeches from the Tanunda RSL, a speech from Corporal Smith’s grade five teacher, Mr Mostyn Daniel and prayers.
