Stolen treasures

The Abbeyfield Little Shop of Treasures in Williamstown was broken into overnight on March 13 with only the safe and all of its contents stolen from the premises.

The Little Shop of Treasures, which is a charity shop for Abbeyfield Aged Care Facility in Williamstown, is manned entirely by volunteers from the area and they are devastated by the break in.

Barbara Wieland, general manager at Abbeyfield Aged Care Facility, said that since the break in was after the long weekend, they have lost a reasonable amount of money that would have gone back to the nursing home.

“It’s just so disappointing that all of the work that the volunteers have put in and how proud that are of the shop and the feedback we receive about the friendliness and quality of the presentation, for that to all be undone by some person or persons who obviously don’t appreciate community… it’s devastating,” said Barbara.

“It’s manned by volunteers who diligently work really hard for seven days of the week that that shop is open. They have done an amazing job raising money for Abbeyfield… Nothing else was taken, nothing else was disturbed other than the safe.
