Pastor Fox says goodbye to St John’s

On Sunday Pastor Anthony Fox, of St John’s Lutheran Church, Tanunda delivered his final sermon after nearly 16 years of preaching.

Pastor Fox said that “the service was well attended and enjoyable.”

Rev Dr Mike Semmler, Bishop/President emeritus of the LCA performed the Rite of Retirement and assisted Pastor Fox in the distribution of Holy Communion.

“A luncheon and celebration followed in the church hall,” he said.

“It was a wee bit overwhelming.”

Pastor Fox has spent that last eight years at St John’s Lutheran Church, which also includes the Scheonborn congregation and has enjoyed every bit of it.

In the lead up to his final sermon, Pastor Fox said he was both nervous and excited.

After being a Botanist at the University of Adelaide, Pastor Fox got involved at his Lobethal church where he joined the church council and became the Children’s Ministry Superintendant.

“I totally lost satisfaction with the job at the University, and I became more involved with the church,” he said.

In 1993 he joined the Seminary, where he received his Bachelor of Theology and Graduate Diplomacy of Ministry.
