$18,180 for Freeling project

Freeling RSL has won an $18,180 grant to progress the Freeling multi-purpose facility planned for the township.

The infrastructure investment grant was announced on Monday as part of Round 2 of the Stronger Communities Programme.

Federal Member for Wakefield, Mr Nick Champion delivered the good news at Freeling Recreation Park, the site of the community led building project which is another step towards becoming a reality thanks to the cash boost.

“It’s a very good day for Freeling,” said Mr Champion.

“A lot of people had a tough year, particularly in the wake of the fires. We were keen with this round of the Stronger Communities partnership, to make sure towns in the fire zone got a bit of a priority so that we could get projects going in each of the towns to build community spirit.

“After such a devastating experience, we all want to move on and it’s important that we have some civic process in the meantime.”

The grant will to be used for site preparation which includes the removal of approximately 45 trees.
