Faith seeks ministerial exemption from bus service

Faith Lutheran College, is re-evaluating their involvement with SA bus services after worries that students’ lives were put at risk before numerous claims were revealed in State Parliament.

Principal of the college, Mr Steve Wilksch assures that Faith Lutheran College’s primary concern is for the safety and welfare of their students.

“Faith Lutheran College has a duty of care to its students that it will not compromise,” said Mr Wilksch.

“We look forward to working with the Government and Department to satisfy the safety requirements of our students and the peace of mind of their families.”

Mr Stephan Knoll, MP member for Schubert disclosed a number of concerns within State Parliament on March 24 regarding the safety and welfare of Faith Lutheran College’s students whom utilise the bus services of Link SA.

Mr Knoll informs that over the past few years the number of complaints have ramped up with numerous issues being of an extremely serious nature. The volume of complaints and the severity of some, Mr Knoll believes, warrants urgent attention.

Miss Felicity Hampel, student of the college, informed The Leader of numerous issues that were brought to her attention after using Link SA. Miss Hampel lives a short distance from the school with a 50 minute bus route, but with the take over of Link SA that route nearly doubled.

“With the new route, and new added stops it takes between one to one and a half hours when I only live 20 minutes away… I think it’s pretty pathetic,” said Miss Hampel.

Miss Hampel continues to explain that throughout term four, 2015 and term 1, 2016 the bus would be consumed by dust due to gaps and damage.

“It triggered asthma for the asthmatic suffers like myself and also caused nausea and headaches due to no air conditioning and minimal fresh air to breath,” said Miss Hampel.
