Jim and Margaret prepare for a fruitful retirement

After 50 years of producing orchard fruits, Margaret and Jim Ellis, are preparing to retire.

For the past nine years the couple have been in preparation for their retirement by selling property and turning their passion for fruit growing into a hobby.

“It has taken us five years to turn it all into a hobby,” said Margaret.

Margaret explains that Jim, a fourth generation fruit grower, is going to thoroughly miss it.

“Jim is going to miss the fruit growing so much, it has been his whole life. He pretty much grew up in the orchard.”

Throughout their time amongst the fruit Jim and Margaret found themselves involved with the Barossa Farmers Market. For over 13 years they have been selling their produce to the market goers and Margaret assures that she has truly enjoyed her time there.

“We’ve been involved with the markets ever since it started. I was actually a member before it started,” said Margaret.
