National success for Katrina

With a husband, two children and two separate jobs, Nuriootpa’s Katrina Pape has successfully attained a top ten position in the Maxine’s Shape-Up Challenge 2015.

Nationally, The Maxine’s Challenge runs over twelve weeks and is aimed at encouraging participants to transform their bodies and improve their overall health.

“I originally took up the challenge to feel good, reduce my body fat, build muscle and gain more energy,” Katrina said.

“Earlier this year I went on a cruise, I got out of shape and I fell off the rails completely with my eating.”

Katrina’s daily workout routine comprised of attending her local gym, Anytime Fitness at Angaston each day of the week.

“Somedays I found it hard to go to the gym. I had to leave time for it,” she said

“I took the challenge one day at a time.”

On the weekends Katrina and her husband, Garry would prepare their lunches for the week.

Ingredients such as rice, sweet potatoes and lean meats were essential dietary components.

Last month Katrina was “completely blown away” when she was notified by phone that she had successfully attained a top ten position in the Maxine’s Shape-Up Challenge.

“I was already happy to make it to the top 50,” she said.

“My family, friends and workplace were all very supportive. The messages of congratulations were awesome.”

Earlier this month Katrina and Garry, were flown out to Melbourne for a four-day top 10 weekend.

The trip included a one-on-one training session with Janet Kane, champion body builder, followed by a photo shoot.

“Going to Melbourne was one of the best weekends of my life,” Katrina said.
