Premier’s Certificates presented to Nuriootpa men

Prominent Nuriootpa men, Mr John Reusch and Mr Ian Klaebe have each been presented with a 2015 Premier’s Certificate of Recognition for outstanding volunteer service.

Ms Kathryn Schilling, Administration Officer, Nuriootpa Futures Association, officially presented the certificates to the two men at Nuriootpa Futures Association A.G.M. at the
Vine Inn Barossa last Tuesday evening.

Mr John Reusch

Mr John Reusch has made a significant and valuable contribution to the Nuriootpa community and entire Barossa Valley, in sport, school and church committees.

He is a Justice of the Peace, Meals on Wheels volunteer and driver for The Barossa Council and Barossa Village.

He joined his first committee, the Nuriootpa Centennial Park Authority at just 16 years and recently retired after 66 years of service.

He is a life member of Nuriootpa Lawn Bowls Club, Nuriootpa Rover Football Club and Barossa Village Inc.

John is also a member of Probus and has been involved in many Barossa Vintage Festival committees.

All of these committees he has served in many capacities often as chairman.

He has received Australia Day honours in 1983. John has great pride in his town, his community spirit is infectious with a genuine wish to improve services and facilities for the young and old in his community.

Mr Ian Klaebe

Mr Ian Klaebe has had a strong involvement in sport, serving Nuriootpa Cricket Club for 25 years as a player and committee member for 20 years and life membership.

He was a playing member of Nuriootpa Rover Football Club for 15 years, made life member in 1970, was selector for two years, a member of the general committee for five years and also served on the Barossa and Light Cricket Association.

Ian managed junior tennis teams for 10 years. He was also involved in school councils with six years’ involvement with Nuriootpa Primary and two and a half years with Nuriootpa High.

Ian had a particularly strong involvement with Nuriootpa Centennial Park Authority, treasurer for 43 years, C.E.O. for 14 years and being a member of the executive committee for 28 years.

He served Nuriootpa War Memorial Association for 10 years, has been a member of Nuriootpa Commerce Association and NuRCA treasurer for some 20 years.

He has been Holy Trinity Church treasurer and church council member.

In Nuriootpa Bowling Club he has been treasurer, a member of the maintenance committee
and lawn bowls carnival for five years.

For many years he was a member of the Barossa Vintage Festival committee, working on events such as the town floats and gala ball. Ian also audits books for various local organisations and he is an affiliate member of Nuriootpa R.S.L. Sub-Branch.
