House fire causes $300,000 worth in damage

Last week a serious fire in Mount Pleasant engulfed a home in flames, causing an estimated $300,000 worth in damage.

At around 2.40 p.m. on April 23, several CFS crews responded to multiple emergency calls at a residence on Melrose Street, Mount Pleasant.

Around 50 CFS members from groups including Barossa, Onkaparinga and Ridley attended the scene, along with approximately eight fire trucks.

The owner of the building was out at the time, but has since been informed of the incident.

The cause of the fire is yet to be identified.

Emergency services were able to control the flames after about four hours, and fortunately no damage was sustained to property in the surrounding area.

However, the blaze created a significant amount of smoke, resulting in warnings from the CFS to keep windows and doors closed around the affected area.
