About time

After a year of planning and generous donations from the local community, the time arrived for the installation of the Angaston/Keightley town clock last week.

Inclusive of all costs, the project needed $9,300 to be completed.

During the 2015 Vintage Festival, the Angaston Garden Quilters helped also to raise the funds, amongst numerous other individual donors over the past year.

“We’ve appreciated the donations received from numerous locals, the Keightley family and groups in the community,” said Dr Bill Gransbury, president of the Angaston and Penrice Historical Society.

“The clock is community owned.”

The appeal was launched by pamphlet and through The Leader in 2014 under the name of the Angaston/ Keightley Town Clock Appeal, supported by the Angaston and Penrice History Society and The Angaston Management Group.

The timepiece is Swiss made and electrically mechanised, with a LED illumination feature so it is clearly visible in the dark.

It also features a timer, which will enable adjustment to daylight saving.

Plans for an Angaston town clock to be installed first arose over 100 years ago.
