Self serve checkouts a Barossa first

Nuriootpa Foodland is the first in the Barossa to offer customers a chance to serve themselves.

It’s a move that has allowed for six new
self serve checkouts, initiated to take the pressure off express lanes.

Nuriootpa Foodland manager, Mr Ken Hodges is quick to emphasise it hasn’t resulted in
job losses, rather created new positions for
The Co-op.

“It really is about improving service levels and taking the pressure off express lanes and removing delays,” said Ken.

“The lines haven’t been express for a long time… this eases the queue and gives people an option to serve themselves.”

One staff member is assigned to assist customers during the self serve process and are more than happy to guide customers through the experience.

Ken said the fast lane remains at four checkouts to keep up with an increase in customers.

He added the initiative is another step for staff and customers to prepare for their new supermarket.
