Community shed gains momentum

After considering various sites, The Barossa Community Men’s Shed is now reality with extensive work being carried out at their Tanunda location.

The shed has gone up on a portion of The Barossa Council’s works depot, with entry from Ash Street, and the interior work is expected to take place in coming weeks.

Barossa Leisure Options co-ordinator, Monique Lloyd said The Barossa Community Men’s Shed building has been five years in the making but it is so rewarding to now see the structure up.

“We would like to take a moment to thank Rotary Barossa for hanging in there and our tradies for their work in transforming the site and our vision,” said Monique.

“Over the next couple of months the group members from the Barossa Community Men’s Shed will be working tirelessly on the interior of the shed and we are hopeful that we can officially open the shed in early 2015.”

It has been a long project for Council’s Leisure Options team and the Men’s Shed co-ordinator, Mr John Matters to get to this point.

After identifying the need to relocate, the new shed was firstly planned for the site of the former Tanunda swimming pool and then later, the poultry shed at the Tanunda Recreation Park.
