Rotary raises $8,000

On May 9 the Rotary Club of Barossa Valley held its major annual fundraising event which raised $8,000. The Bring and Buy night has been held for many years and continues to be a very successful way to raise funds for some of the Club’s ongoing projects. Funds from the Bring and Buy night are used for scholarships at both Faith Lutheran College and Nuriootpa High School, three University scholarships for Barossa based students and the Rotary Youth Driver Awareness programme that is run every year for Year 11 students from Faith, Nuriootpa, Kapunda and Eudunda High Schools. One hundred and twenty people attended this year’s Bring and Buy Night at the Langmeil Centre that took the form of a dinner and goods and services and silent wine auction. The silent wine auction was organised by the Friends of Rotary with 77 lots of wine on offer raising $3,900. Thirty-four wineries generously donated wine and vouchers, and their ongoing support is greatly appreciated. Friends of Rotary is a very successful programme that was introduced into the Barossa Valley club two years ago. It allows people to be involved in Rotary community service and social activities as and when time permits them. The Rotary Club of Barossa Valley currently has 25 active Friends, four of whom were recently inducted as Rotarians.
