Bring back some colour and tradition

She’s the senior reporter for Channel Nine News; a modern, forward thinking woman who has excelled in her career, appearing on national television and keeping viewers up to date with the latest issues.

But Ms Emily Rice, who grew up on the family farm near Truro and attended Nuriootpa High School, was also crowned the 1997 Barossa Vintage Festival Queen – the final one before the competition was replaced by the Barossa Young Ambassador programme.

The award winning Melbourne based broadcast reporter would welcome the return of the traditional Vintage Queen competition and answered the question of whether it should be re-introduced with a resounding “yes”.

“The Vintage Queen competition was a memorable and maturing experience for me,” she said.

“Apart from the personal benefit, I sincerely believe the Vintage Queen competition delivered a lovely point of difference between the Barossa Valley and other Australian wine regions.”
