Tourism Barossa to run Vintage Festival

Tourism Barossa will take over running of the 2015 Barossa Vintage Festival with the Festival transitioning from Barossa Grape and Wine Association. This was announced by Mr Chris Pfeiffer, President of Tourism Barossa during a networking evening held at the Barossa Visitor Information Centre, Tanunda last Thursday.

Key points of the announcement include the 2015 Festival being reduced in length to five days.

The Festival will be given a new place in the annual calendar, the middle week-end of the S.A. April School holidays. Dates for the 2015 Festival are April 15 to 19.

During the evening Mr Pfeiffer acknowledged the effort of Mr James March and his team from Barossa Grape and Wine Association for picking up the event and keeping it running.

Mr March spoke of the importance of the Barossa Vintage Festival, describing how grapegrowers had supported the Festival since its inception.

He added, “Barossa Grape & Wine only took on running the Festival as custodians and to keep it running for the sake of the community and its people. We ran the 2011 and 2013 Festival and will now pass on our knowledge to Tourism Barossa.
