100 not out

Mr Keith Fechner is on his way to scoring a century, “100 not out” in a life filled with cricket, footy, hard work and the aroma of freshly baked bread.

Keith’s nickname of “Chiney” Fechner came from his prowess as a left hand wrist spin bowler, a rare ability that echoed a famous West Indian cricketer of Chinese descent. That, together with his “medium lefties”, claimed him wicket after wicket for the Tanunda Cricket Club.

“I played a lot of cricket, I was good at it… I won the best bowling averages at Tanunda for years,” he said and quoted his best bowling figures of 8 for 11 and 7 for 9.
