Local projects in limbo

The newly elected Liberal Government has held back on spending allocated by the previous Federal Government impacting local projects under the Regional Development Australia Fund.

Mount Pleasant Library refurbishment, Angaston Railway precinct upgrade, Kapunda Rail Trail links, Swan Reach Town Hall development and a partial refurbishment to the Gawler Town Hall have been affected by the decision. However, councils are still hopeful of future funding.

The Barossa Council chief executive, Mr Martin McCarthy believes their two projects meet the criteria for the Local Government stimulus programme and submitted applications in time for Monday’s deadline.
