Devastating frost strikes Barossa

Black frost has wiped through the Barossa region, leaving some grape growers with little to no crop left, forcing them to scavenge the remains and try for a better year next year.

Last Monday night to Tuesday morning thousands of hectares and millions of dollars of crop have been destroyed throughout the Barossa; Ebenezer bore the brunt of the frost.

One of the worst affected by the frost was Ebenezer’s Mr Adrian Hoffmann.

Last year Adrian lost 35 hectares of his crop to frost, this year he lost almost double that, losing about 60 hectares.

Adrian said before the incident the vines were showing a good crop with decent size bunches, so the vintage was probably close to $1 million worth.
