Nuriootpa icon set alight

A man has been charged with property damage after the iconic locomotive in Tolley Reserve, Nuriootpa was set alight on Thursday night.

Emergency crews were called to the Murray Street location just before midnight to find extensive flames exiting two points of the locomotive.

It is understood a build up of rubbish in the locomotive helped ignite the fire.

The Barossa Council has fenced off the locomotive and were likely to reopen the site this week.
