David’s talent for woodcarving

Give Greenock cabinetmaker, Mr David Nitschke a fresh idea and a blank piece of wood and before long, he’ll have created a masterpiece.

Mr Nitschke loves nothing more than starting a new project and “nutting out” a way to get the best possible result.

Among the hundreds of tables, chairs and other furniture he has built since opening his workshop 30 years ago are some unique pieces of art.

He has created a chandelier using wooden arms cut from a vineyard, carved eagles for churches and even sculpted wine legend, Mr Wolf Blass’ face for his 50th and 70th birthday.
