Martin brings home bronze

In his first time at the World Police and Fire Games, Senior Sergeant Martin Kennedy has returned home with a bronze medal.

The Nuriootpa police officer travelled to Belfast, Northern Ireland, early this month to compete in darts and dragon boat racing.

But it was the sport he had never competed in before, dragon boat racing, that earned him the honour as a member of the Aurora Australis team in the mixed 20s division.

“This was totally different to anything I had done before,” said Snr. Sgt. Kennedy.

“It was physically challenging in very short bursts and you only needed moderate fitness.

“Each race takes just under 50 seconds.”
