Barossa Gourmet programme a hit

Rain and wild weather didn’t affect crowd numbers for this year’s Barossa Gourmet Weekend, with organisers reporting an increase in enthusiasts compared to last year.

Under a new format with a volunteer based committee, the 2013 Barossa Gourmet Weekend offered a bigger than usual programme as the region presented a food and wine showcase.

Gourmet Weekend president, Ms Nicole Hodgson, hailed the weekend a success.

“The amount of money spent in the Barossa this weekend is a good tribute to the committee that worked tirelessly to make the event happen,” said Nicole.

“All the wineries got together this year to make it happen and didn’t want to lose the event.

“It was a very, very positive weekend for the Barossa, particularly for a food and wine experience.”
