Digital switchover reduces local news

Not everyone is benefitting from the digital TV switchover, with some viewers receiving less content than ever before.

Truro couple, Adrian and Susan Schilling have not watched any South Australian news, weather or advertising since the switchover in April.

Living in a black spot area, the pair had to install a satellite to receive digital TV, which they later discovered only relays limited local news.

The Viewer Access Satellite Television (VAST) system is divided into east and west channels, so news broadcast to Truro is a mix between South Australian and Tasmanian news.
