Co-op confident

The Community Co-operative Store (Nuriootpa) Ltd. is in a very strong position in what continues to be challenging times and is confident of its future remarked Mr Phil Schmaal, vice-chairman when he presented his report at The Co-op A.G.M. held at Barossa Mall, Nuriootpa last Wednesday.

Mr Schmaal welcomed everyone present to the A.G.M. acknowledging an apology from Mr Trevor Schmidt who retired that day as company secretary after 36 years’ service with the Co-op.

Mr Schmaal described Mr Schmidt as a national expert on co-operatives, having previously worked for the Barossa Co-operative before coming to the Co-op.

“He only missed one A.G.M. in 1981 when his wife, Judy had their second son born that night. His service to the Co-op is exemplary,” remarked Mr Schmaal.

On the financial result of the Co-op, Mr Schmaal said he was delighted to say his role was an extremely pleasant one and all members can be extremely proud of.
