From train driver to OAM recipient

His workaholic nature has been the driving force behind Nuriootpa man, Mr Chris Johnstone’s long association with many different community organisations.

The former train driver was born in Angaston, but moved to Whyalla with his mother and brother when he was 10.

This move sparked his willingness to help others and give back what he could to the community.

“I had nothing as a young kid. I lived with my Mum and brother in a one bedroom shack in Whyalla,” Mr Johnstone said.

This has inspired him to help those in need and his wife, Sharyn has joked he doesn’t know how to say no to people.
