Mixed reaction to Barossa ad.

A commercial aimed at attracting more visitors to the Barossa is receiving mixed reviews in the community.

The commercial with the tagline “Barossa. Be consumed” is set in several different Barossa locations and features local produce.

The commercial – part of a $6 million project – features the music of Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, with their haunting song, Red Right Hand.

It was produced by the same team behind a recent campaign for Kangaroo Island, which contributed to a 13 per cent increase in overnight stays and the South Australian Tourism Commission is hoping to reap the same rewards from the Barossa commercial.

The commercial, which goes for a minute and forty seconds, highlights the role the soil plays in the Barossa’s produce.

A portion of the commercial was filmed on Jamie and Analiese Nietschke’s property at Moppa on Marble Quarry Road last year.
